Non vedendo Oats per una settimana, hanno temuto il peggio. "Ho pensato che fosse morta di sete e di fame", ha dichiarato Cain. Dopo due settimane la famiglia Cain è riuscita a prendere la gatta, ormai troppo debilitata e debole per scappare, ed a toglierli il barattolo dalla testa usando olio d'oliva.

Le hanno dato subito da bere e le hanno medicato le ferite che l'animale stesso si era inferto, tentando di liberarsi. Dopo qualche ora la gatta ha ricominciato a mangiare.
Adesso la gatta Oats sta benissimo, ha ripreso i chili perduti ed i Cain hanno notato che si avvicina più spesso alla casa senza timore. Dopo quello che Oats ha superato la famiglia Cain sta pensando di cambiarle il nome in “Sopravvissuta”.
